Merhaba...Hello from Turkey.
Merhaba! This is a Turkish greeting which is to mean Hello! My name is Phira Chaochaloemphong. I am an exchange student to Turkey. I have departed from Thailand since September 7, 2007. I have lived in Soyak Yenişehir Palmiye Evleri Ümraniye, İstanbul
Turkey is a Eurasian country that stretches across the Anatolian peninsula in western Asia and Thrace (Rumelia) in the Balkan region of southeastern Europe ,Because of its strategic location astride two continents, Turkey’s culture has a unique blend of Eastern and Western tradition. A powerful regional presence in the Eurasian landmass with strong cultural and economic influence in the area between the European Union in the west and Central Asia in the east, Russia in the north and the Middle East in the South. The capital of Turkey is İstanbul where i have lived. İstanbul is Turkey’s and Europe’s most populous city, (the world’s 4th largest), and its cultural and financial center. It extends both on the European (Thrace) and on the Asian (Anatolia) side of the Bosphorus, and is thereby the only metropolis in the world which is situated on two continents. İstanbul looks like Bangkok but the weather is much colder. They have got the same advantage and disadvantage. However you can find out everything you want in İstanbul.
I am going to tell you about my life in turkey. At first time i have seen Turkey. I thought Turkey was a hot country because it was extremely sunny on that my first day. But I was completely wrong. It was true that it was sunny but the weather was so cold that i had to put lots of my stuffs on me. The first camp was in İstanbul. Everything was well in that camp. I had known many friends. It came to the date that i first met my host family. The strongest impressing was they were so young (whom i compared with my own family). There are four members in my family, father mother ,16-year-old son and 10-year-old son (actually i have a housekeeper who lives with us).We have lived in Soyak-Yenişehir. It is a kind of village which is very big and the buidings are all Apartments. With my host family we talked about traditional in our own country then they took me to the wedding. I might be the first one who have seen the turkish wedding. My host family and I have a lot of fun together. We have been many historical places in İstanbul. We can get along well one another
My school´s name is FMV Leseli Işık Erenköy. I daresay this school is the one of the best school in İstanbul. I am always happy at school. Food, library and managemet is extremely well-organized. Teachers look after me well that makes me ought to do the same things back, for instance i must have done every exams like the ordinary students luckily my exams were easier. I have just done the final exam and the result was very good because i have got 100 points from Mathematics exam. Whole school was surprised in my result because I was the first one who have got 100. I could say thati have got a good grade because of i come from Thailand. My friends in school are so friendly. They help me a lot. I could say my Turkish is much better because of them. In the other hand I have a lot of AFS friends. We always hang out together. When someone has a problem, we talk and give one another the solution. Absolutely either my English or Turkish is much better from their helps
İstanbul is the best city in Turkey you could see lots of foreigners here. Most of the famous historical places. Turkish foods are famous too, for example, Turkish kebap and Turkish desserts are very delicious. There are many tasty beverage such as ayran(yogurt mixes with pure water) or to drink Turkish coffee and eat Turkish delight or baklava. You would probably think that people in the big city like this must be selfish but it was not true. Turkish people are charitable and hospitable. You would never get lost in İstanbul becuase Turkish people are looking forward to help you willingly. Once in my first travelling i didn´t know how to get home, i was looking for the bus but i couldn´t read the places´name. Some Turkish came to me and offering me a help, certainly i accepted it. He asked everyone who knew where i have lived. When he knew obviously then he took me home. He came side-along-side with me and then apparently he paid the bus for me. This is only one situation which indicates the kindness of Turkish people as well.
I have met here many kinds of people. They are diffirent in both languages and cultures. It is so hard to adopt myself to everything but it is challenging experience. I ought to deal with it. I can say that I am stronger both physically and mentally than I was in Thailand. I can never thank you enough for your kindness to put your honour in the trust of me. I will give you my word that i will do my best for not to lose my honour as a Thai person, even though i only have 5 months left here. Hopefully Turkish people will know about Thailand more
