AFS-THA Board members, trustees, returnees and directors on stage honoring H.M. King Bhumibhol 80th Birthday.

AFS Thailand organized the grand event of the year celebrating 45th Anniversary Gala Dinner at the Rama Gardens on 30th November, 2007. Over 600 distinguished guests were invited to the party including Diplomats, AFS-THA Board members, Trustees, AFS Partner representatives, AFS-THA Volunteers, and returnees.
The event started with the opening speech from Mr. Sanan Augubolkul, AFS Thailand Chairman, and the celebration song to honor His Majesty King Bhumibhol Adulyadej joined in by AFS Thailand Board Members, Directors and returnees. Then the performance “Latin Dance” by AFS participants from Columbia & Paraguay, Miss Elina Jimenez and Miss Maria Liz Gonzalez, followed by a classic guitar performance by Thai AFS Participant to the JENESYS 2007 Program, Miss Lertlak Nira. Mr. Yuzo Takada, AFS International Board of Trustee, surprised the audience by joining Miss Lertlak with a beautiful Japanese song. After that, the audience were impressed by AFS-THA volunteers’ lively Can-Can dance.
The presentation “45 years of youth development for peace” was presented to express the directions AFS Thailand is heading for after 45 years of quality and success. The highlight of the event was the keynote speech by Dr. Surin Pitsuwan, Secretary General of the ASEAN.
The event was cheerfully entertained by a live band “The Dream”. Mr. Supapong Krishnakarn, a former AFS returnee to USA and a producer of the song “Walk together, Talk together” which was used at the World Conference in Japan and in most functions of AFS Thailand, had also performed in this event.
The Gala Dinner Party finished with the Ballroom dancing. Our distinguished guests had a wonderful time. This was the sign of a grand success and the cooperative among all AFSers.
