22/10/2007 - AFS YES 08 Selection Camp

AFS Thailand’s Volunteer & Program Development Department organized AFS-YES selection camp in Kanchanaburi on October 23rd-24th, 2007. This was the first and innovative recruiting process. The purpose of this camp was to find the most qualified participants for AFS-YES 2008.

After the applicants passed the written exam and basic interview from their Chapters, they were invited to join this camp. All students were divided into groups so that they could practice their team-working skills. While they were doing their activities, AFS volunteer panels monitored the candidates’ behavior by observing their reaction toward the activities the camp provided. In one section, the volunteers interviewed the candidates individually focusing on their English language skill and personal qualities of being an exchange student. After that they were interviewed by AFS Thailand Staff to examine their attitude and expectation toward the program.

Another interesting section was the talent show in which the group presented their “capability” relating to the topics they had selected. During all activities, they were observed by recent AFS returnees including the AFS-YES 06 alumni /returnees.

With the cooperation of our AFS-YES 2006 and YP-USA returnees, the candidates enjoyed learning how to work as a team; solving problems and accepting the difference among people.

The AFS-YES 08 Selection Camp was successfully completed and gave all camp participants the wonderful memories and friendship.
